Softball Recap: Hopkinton Has No Trouble Against Mascoma

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hopkinton). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mascoma Royals a 17-0 shutout on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Hopkinton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-2-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Mascoma, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hopkinton will host Fall Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mascoma, they will welcome Hillsboro-Deering at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
