West Geauga hasn't had much luck against Perry recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wolverines will challenge the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with West Geauga sitting on ten straight victories and Perry on five.
On Tuesday, West Geauga made easy work of Lutheran West and carried off a 24-3 win. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Gabby Donofrio made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, West Geauga let Faelynn Beckrest and Peyton Gambatese run wild. Beckrest went 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI, while Gambatese went 2-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Beckrest is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last five games she's played. Morgan Atwara also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
West Geauga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 25 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2025.
The home team had come away the winner the last three times Perry and Jefferson Area had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Falcons on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted against the Falcons since May 18, 2018.
Morgan Winters spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Aubrey Santore was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mercedes Snell, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
West Geauga's record is now 13-3. As for Perry, their record now sits at 15-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. West Geauga hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
West Geauga came up short against Perry when the teams last played on April 8th, falling 4-1. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
