Softball Game Preview: Cypress Centurions vs. El Modena Vanguards

The Cypress Centurions will head out to square off against the El Modena Vanguards at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cypress 3.6, El Modena 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Thursday, Cypress came up short against Pacifica and fell 5-2.

Tia Hernandez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, El Modena entered their tilt with Pacifica on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Mariners.

The team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Galasso, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kylie Tafua, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

El Modena pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cypress, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.
