Basketball Game Preview: Urbana Hawks vs. South Carroll Cavaliers

The Urbana Hawks and the South Carroll Cavaliers will round out the year against one another at at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Urbana's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.

Urbana is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since February 14th on Friday. They fell just short of North Hagerstown by a score of 64-62.

Despite their defeat, Urbana saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sean Pyles, who posted 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. With that strong performance, Pyles is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Thompson, who put up 14 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Urbana smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, South Carroll came up short against Westminster on Friday and fell 63-54.

Urbana's record now sits at 3-2. As for South Carroll, their record is now 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Urbana against South Carroll when the teams last played back in December of 2022, as the team secured a 78-40 victory. Will Urbana repeat their success, or does South Carroll have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
