King's Academy took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Pioneer, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Mustangs 3-1. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 14-5 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Ethan Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

In other pitching news, Taiyo Peterson looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for King's Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-4. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Pioneer, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

King's Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-7 defeat against Carlmont on the 16th. As for Pioneer, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-4 win against Santa Teresa on the 16th.
