Volleyball Recap: Denver West Cowboys vs. Hinkley Thunder
Denver West lost against Hinkley back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cowboys came up short against the Thunder, falling 3-0. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Denver West was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-23, 25-14.
Makaio Sangster paced Denver West's offense, picking up three kills. Sangster got some help from Darien Palmon and his three assists. Xzavier Espino controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Hinkley found their leader in freshman Adrian Herrera, who had five digs and five aces.
Denver West's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Hinkley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.
Denver West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Gateway on the 5th. As for Hinkley, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Rangeview at 6:30 p.m.
