Baseball Game Preview: Meridian Trojans vs. Lakewood Cougars

The Meridian Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Lakewood Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meridian is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Meridian's offense. They came up short against Burlington-Edison on Wednesday, falling 11-0.

Meanwhile, Lakewood lost 12-2 to Mount Vernon on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Lakewood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Hayes, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Meridian couldn't quite finish off Lakewood when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
