Basketball Recap: ALA - Ironwood Gets the Win

ALA - Ironwood won the last time they faced Payson and things went their way on Saturday too. The ALA - Ironwood Warriors slipped by the Payson Longhorns 61-60. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Longhorns are ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

ALA - Ironwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Adkins, who went 8 for 19 en route to 23 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards. Adkins' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Blake Anderson, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

Payson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Omar Fierro-Nava, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Fierro-Nava also racked up five steals, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Aldan Parsons was another key player, putting up ten points along with five boards and three steals.

ALA - Ironwood's record is now 13-7. As for Payson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

ALA - Ironwood has already played their next contest (against Northwest Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Payson has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Bourgade Catholic.
