With a playoff win on the line, Nettleton rose to the challenge on Monday. Everything went their way against the Choctaw County Chargers as they made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Tigers have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Bailey Payne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Nettleton got a massive performance out of Chloe Humble, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave Humble a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savannah Harlow, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
The victory was the sixth in a row for Nettleton, bringing their record up to 28-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Choctaw County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-18.
Looking ahead, Nettleton will challenge Booneville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. Choctaw County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
