Football Game Preview: Lakewood Spartans vs. Boca Ciega Pirates + How To Watch

Lakewood is 8-1 against Boca Ciega since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Spartans will face off against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Lakewood will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Lakewood is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Tarpon Springs: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Spartans blew the Spongers out of the water with a 58-7 final score. Fans of the Spartans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Lakewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ayden Wallace led the charge by throwing for 219 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 7-for-7 passing. The dominant performance also gave Wallace a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Shrodderick Pritchett Jr was another key receiver, picking up 131 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Boca Ciega earned a 19-7 win over Gibbs on Friday.

Lakewood better keep an eye on Jamari Sanders. He was instrumental in Boca Ciega's win, rushing for 165 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.

Lakewood's record now sits at 6-0. As for Boca Ciega, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Lakewood barely slipped by Boca Ciega in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 35-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
