League recap: Hoosick Falls tops Stillwater to extend winning streak

Hoosick Falls extended the longest winning streak in Section 2 C - North this week by beating Stillwater, 35-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Granville scaled the state rankings by moving to 395 from 423 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Golden Horde climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Catholic Central 56-20.

Hoosick Falls' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Garrett Wright threw for 192 and 2 touchdowns and Levi Brewster had 88 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Hodges contributed 63 yards. Thomas Peabody helped Hoosick Falls' passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 36 yards.

He was 13-26 with 0 interceptions.

Hodges was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 63 yards on 13 carries as Ron Jones' team beat the Warriors. Teammate Mike Matatt added to the ground attack by rushing for 65 yards.

Hoosick Falls' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wright has thrown for 708 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Brewster has 13 catches for 252 yards.

A big matchup in Section 2 C - North this week will be when Corinth takes on Mechanicville. The Tomahawks are currently in third, while the Red Raiders are in second.

Corinth and Tamarac played the closest game in the league this week, with Corinth eventually emerging with a 25-23 victory.
