Soccer Game Preview: Irvin vs. Austin

Irvin hasn't had much luck against Austin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rockets will square off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m.

Friday just wasn't the day for Irvin's offense. They fell 2-0 to Ysleta on Friday. While losing is never fun, Irvin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while Ysleta are ranked 318th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Austin). Everything went their way against Mountain View on Friday as they made off with a 7-2 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-0.

The win made it two in a row for Austin and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those two matchups. As for Irvin, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
