Preview: Viewmont Vikings vs. Northridge Knights

The Viewmont Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Northridge Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Viewmont is ranked 68th, while Northridge is ranked 62nd).

On Wednesday, Viewmont came up short against Woods Cross and fell 54-42. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Viewmont has scored all season.

Despite their loss, Viewmont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Max Larsen, who scored six points along with eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. It was the first time this season that Larsen pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Drez Jensen, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.

Viewmont's lineup was just a bit different on Wednesday as Kade Cannon got a bit more time on the court (19 vs. his season average of 9.8). Cannon made the most of the opportunity, scoring nine points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Northridge was able to grind out a solid win over Box Elder on Wednesday, taking the game 55-48.

Viewmont's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Northridge, they pushed their record up to 9-11 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Viewmont was able to grind out a solid win over Northridge in their previous matchup back in January, winning 71-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Viewmont since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
