Football Recap: Wellington Wolverines vs. Spanish River Sharks

Wellington lost a close one when they played two weeks ago but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on Friday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by the Spanish River Sharks 51-15. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2014.

Jonathan Paul threw for 153 yards and a touchdown. Trey Allen was his top target, picking up 121 receiving yards. On the ground, Tyree Pearson rushed for 42 yards.

Spanish River found their leader in underclassman Marcus Stracke, who threw for 362 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Blake Wallace was Stracke's top target, picking up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Wellington and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Spanish River, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Wellington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 31-0 victory against Palm Beach Lakes on the 27th. Spanish River has also already played their next matchup, a 61-6 win against Coral Glades on the 27th.
