Football Game Preview: Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders vs. Paetow Panthers

Two dominant backs in John Hebert and Jovan Rodriguez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders will be playing at home against the Paetow Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Strake Jesuit's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last seven games.

On Friday, Strake Jesuit strolled past Foster with points to spare, taking the game 38-22. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Fighting Crusaders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Falcons are ranked 752nd).

Meanwhile, Paetow played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 45-21 to Jordan. The Panthers have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Rodriguez and Patrick Spann. Spann had a great game and rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Meanwhile, Rodriguez did his best for the losing side, rushing for 103 yards on only 14 carries.

Strake Jesuit's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.6 points over those games. As for Paetow, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Strake Jesuit has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 371.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Paetow struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
