Volleyball Recap: Pine Crest Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Wednesday. Pine Crest fell just short of Franklin Academy by a score of 3-2. Pine Crest just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.

Pine Crest actually scored more points across those five sets (104-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-13.

Bobby Lawlor paced Pine Crest's offense, picking up 18 kills. Lawlor got some help from Cayden Brocato and his 35 assists. Lawlor also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with John Chen, racking up two apiece.

Pine Crest's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Franklin Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Pine Crest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Chaminade-Madonna on the 3rd. As for Franklin Academy, they are taking a road trip to face off against Everglades at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
