Preview: Tarkington Longhorns vs. East Chambers Buccaneers
The Tarkington Longhorns will look to defend their home field on Friday against the East Chambers Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. Tarkington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 784th, while East Chambers is ranked 383rd).
Tarkington fell victim to Kirbyville's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Wildcats 66-0. Tarkington has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, East Chambers made easy work of Anahuac on Thursday and carried off a 35-15 win. The result was nothing new for East Chambers, who have now won four matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
East Chambers haved a senior duo take command as Hadyn Reeves rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns and Jaden Thibodeaux rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
With Tarkington's loss and East Chambers' win, both teams now sport identical 5-2 records.
Tarkington might still be hurting after the 36-14 loss they got from East Chambers in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Tarkington, Jacoby Perrault (who rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 54 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
