Softball Recap: Hancock Triumphs

Hancock's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Williamsport Wildcats. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 14-1 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.

Taylor Weller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Weller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Madi Trumpower was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Grace Worthington was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Hancock has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Williamsport, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Hancock will face off against Northern Garrett on Monday. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Williamsport, they will take on Walkersville on Friday.
