Basketball Recap: Pacifica Comes Up Short

Pacifica lost against Lancaster back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pacifica Tritons took a 76-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancaster Eagles.

Despite the loss, Pacifica saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tommy Williams posted 30 points. Another player making a difference was Julian Fuentes, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

Lancaster's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keelan Benjamin led the charge by putting up 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Benjamin a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was De'Shane Evans, who had 15 points and five steals.

Pacifica has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Lancaster, their record is now 6-11.

Pacifica didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-34 defeat against Oxnard on the 6th. As for Lancaster, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-58 loss against Eastside on the 7th.
