Baseball Recap: Macon Comes Up Short

Macon was the 6-1 winner over Chillicothe when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Macon fell just short of Chillicothe by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Grant Meisner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits.

At the plate, Macon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Weydert, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Macon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Chillicothe, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Macon will challenge Westran at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westran's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Macon's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Chillicothe, they will face off against Savannah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Savannah will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Chillicothe surely won't give up without a fight.
