West Stanly is 9-1 against South Stanly since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Colts will take on the Rowdy Rebel Bulls in a tournament on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While West Stanly's victory against North Brunswick wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Colts won by a run and slipped past the Scorpions 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Colts as they're now sitting on three straight.

Madi Whitley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, West Stanly got a big performance out of Payton Watson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Tucker, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, South Stanly posted their closest victory since May 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out West Brunswick 5-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rowdy Rebel Bulls.
South Stanly also got a great performance from Lyric Rucker as she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Coco Tyson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Morgan Thomas, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
West Stanly's win bumped their record up to 19-3. As for South Stanly, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. West Stanly has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like South Stanly struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Stanly was able to grind out a solid win over South Stanly when the teams last played back in March, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
