Anchorage Christian is our pick as the top boys basketball team in Alaska. Also watch out for Monroe Catholic, East, West and Colony.

1. Anchorage Christian
2012-13 record: 26-6
Head coach: Ron Hoffman

Calvin Hoffman (14 points per game), Immanuel Lopez (8.2), Nate Simmers (5.6) and Christianno Lopez (5.4) are all back for a team that won 15 straight games down the stretch last season and reached the 3A state title game.

2. Monroe Catholic (Fairbanks)
2012-13 record: 27-2
Head coach: Gary Drexler



The Rams look to continue a special run in Alaska high school basketball history behind the play of senior guard Scooter Bynum. Monroe has won back-to-back 3A state titles and has appeared in three straight championship games.

3. East (Anchorage)
2012-13 record: 19-7, Class 4A state champions
Head coach: Josh Muehlenkamp

Three starters return for last year's 4A state champs, including guard Desmond Johnson – who just may be the state's top junior.

4. West (Anchorage)
2012-13 record: 17-11
Head coach: Antonio Wyche

Power forward Theodorus Oghide (6-7, 220) is back after earning All-State honors as a junior. The Eagles return four of their top five scorers from 2012-13.

5. Colony (Palmer)
2012-13 record: 22-7
Head coach: Tom Berg



All-State player Hunter Eisenhower is gone but the Knights return six players from a team that won 15 of its final 16 regular-season contests.
