Basketball Game Preview: Open Bible Christian vs. First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles

Open Bible Christian will face off against the First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Open Bible Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped back in December of 2024 as they easily beat Crossroads Christian Academy 53-26. The win was some much needed relief for Open Bible Christian as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, First Assembly Christian Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 70-38 victory over the Warriors. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.

Open Bible Christian better focus on containing Sean James and Jausten Rivera as the pair were huge in First Assembly Christian Academy's win. James dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards, while Rivera went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Rivera has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Smith, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 10 points.

First Assembly Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

First Assembly Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Open Bible Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.

Open Bible Christian was taken down by First Assembly Christian Academy 66-30 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Open Bible Christian was down 42-18.
