Basketball Recap: Thatcher Sweeney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Uxbridge over Prouty

Uxbridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 64-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Prouty Panthers. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 67-47 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Uxbridge lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Thatcher Sweeney, who posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was James Sanford, who put up 17 points.

Uxbridge's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Prouty, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Uxbridge will square off against Leicester at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for Prouty, they will challenge Northbridge at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Northbridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Prouty likes a good challenge.
