Basketball Recap: Coconino Comes Up Short

Coconino lost against Mingus back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Coconino Panthers had to suffer through a 57-29 loss at the hands of the Mingus Marauders. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Mingus found their leader in sophomore Savannah Tobias, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Tobias has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 47 times she's played. Marie Thompson was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Coconino's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Mingus, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.

Coconino didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-47 loss against Lee Williams on the 24th. Mingus has also already played their next contest, a 51-35 win against Bradshaw Mountain on the 24th.
