Volleyball Recap: Calvary Baptist Starts Season with Win Against Bassett

Calvary Baptist gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Bassett Olympians with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Calvary Baptist never let Bassett on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-17, 25-17.

Aubrey Gelskey had a dynamite game, getting 19 digs and one assist. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 19 or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season.

Bassett's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Calvary Baptist will look to defend their home court on Friday against San Gabriel Mission at 6:00 p.m. As for Bassett, they will head out on the road to challenge Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
