Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sumter). They came out on top against the Powdersville Patriots by a score of 74-67 on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Gamecocks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Defeat or not, Powdersville got some senior leadership from Von Burton and Jaleel McGee. Burton posted 22 points, while McGee earned 18 points. Another player making a difference was Quan Burton, who put up ten points.

Sumter's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Powdersville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Sumter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-47 loss against Boiling Springs on the 29th. Powdersville has also already played their next game, an 81-42 victory against Travelers Rest on the 29th.
