Softball Game Preview: West Lafayette Red Devils vs. Harrison Raiders

West Lafayette hasn't had much luck against Harrison recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Devils will challenge the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. West Lafayette is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Wednesday, West Lafayette beat Twin Lakes 7-4.

Meanwhile, Harrison had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Lafayette Jefferson 14-2 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Raiders needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Della Bossung was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Hainje, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Hannah Voll was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

West Lafayette's record is now 11-6. As for Harrison, their record now sits at 4-9.

West Lafayette couldn't quite finish off Harrison when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
