Volleyball Recap: Village Christian Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Village Christian and Quartz Hill squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Village Christian had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Royals by a score of 3-2. The Crusaders' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Village Christian actually scored more points across those five sets (100-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 13-25, 25-22, 25-18, 17-25, 15-10.

Village Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Walton Salazar and RJ Nunez. Salazar had 39 assists and nine digs, while Nunez had 12 digs and three assists. Salazar is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 18 or more in each of the last ten games he's played.

Village Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 16-15. As for Quartz Hill, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-12-1 record this season.

Village Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. After both having extra time off, Quartz Hill and El Toro will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Chargers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight.
