Football Game Preview: Reading Memorial Rockets vs. Woburn Memorial Tanners

Reading Memorial is 8-2 against Woburn Memorial since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rockets will welcome the Tanners at 7:00 p.m. Reading Memorial will be strutting in after a victory while Woburn Memorial will be coming in after a loss.

Reading Memorial's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Belmont 41-0. That looming 41-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rockets yet this season.

It was another big night for Dominic Pate, who picked up 112 receiving yards and two scores, and also rushed for 111 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries. He is becoming a predictor of Reading Memorial's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ryan Pulpi, who gained 78 total yards and a touchdown.

Reading Memorial didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cyrus Cousins and Evan Manfredi.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 50 points the game before, Woburn Memorial was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They came up short against Arlington, falling 28-7.

The win made it two in a row for Reading Memorial and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 12 points in those games. As for Woburn Memorial, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

Reading Memorial took their win against Woburn Memorial in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 28-6 score. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Tanners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
