Basketball Game Preview: San Mateo Bearcats vs. El Camino Colts

The San Mateo Bearcats will square off against the El Camino Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. San Mateo will be strutting in after a victory while El Camino will be coming in after a defeat.

El Camino is hoping to do what Mills couldn't on Wednesday: put an end to San Mateo's winning streak, which now stands at three games. San Mateo walked away with a 55-42 win over Mills. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Vikings are ranked 1025th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, El Camino unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Terra Nova.

San Mateo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for El Camino, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.

San Mateo didn't have too much breathing room in their game against El Camino in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 43-38 victory. Will San Mateo repeat their success, or does El Camino have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
