Preview: South Iron Panthers vs. St. Pius X Lancers
The South Iron Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the St. Pius X Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. South Iron is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Sunday, South Iron didn't have too much breathing room in their game against St. Elizabeth, but they still walked away with a 53-47 victory. Given South Iron's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while St. Elizabeth is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but St. Pius X had to settle for a 53-51 loss against Waynesville on Saturday. St. Pius X has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
South Iron's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for St. Pius X, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-4.
South Iron took their victory against St. Pius X when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 63-43. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was St. Pius X's Dabrein Moss, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
