Manteno and Coal City are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Panthers will square off against the Coalers at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Manteno's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

It was a proper cat-fight when Manteno duked it out with Herscher on Thursday. The Panthers came up short against the Tigers, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Manteno can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Herscher are ranked 129th).

Meanwhile, Coal City won against Joliet Catholic on Wednesday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Thursday. The Coalers had just enough and edged out Reed-Custer 2-1. Coal City haven't had any issues with Reed-Custer recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Kylee Kennell was the driving force of Coal City's attack as she scored both of Coal City's goals, bringing her season total up to 19 goals.

Manteno's loss dropped their record down to 5-11-3. As for Coal City, their win bumped their record up to 11-4-1.
