Baseball Game Preview: Chincoteague Ponies vs. Arcadia Firebirds

Chincoteague is 1-9 against Arcadia since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Ponies will be playing at home against the Firebirds at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Chincoteague's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Northampton by a score of 4-0. The Ponies haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Kent Reed's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jermaine Logan Jr, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Bennicoff, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Arcadia sidestepped Nandua for a 5-3 win.

Arcadia is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Chincoteague, their win bumped their record up to 8-9-1.
