Basketball Recap: Payton Peebles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead David Emanuel Academy over John Hancock Academy

David Emanuel Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 51-38 to the John Hancock Academy Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-34 two weeks ago.

David Emanuel Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Peebles, who posted 12 points and five rebounds. Those 12 points gave Peebles a new career-high. Kyli Bell was another key player, putting up four points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

John Hancock Academy was led to victory by Olivia Rackley and Kandler Martin. Rackley had 24 points, while Martin earned 20 points. The match was Rackley's third in a row with at least 17 points.

David Emanuel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for John Hancock Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-14.
