Softball Game Preview: Edward Little Red Eddies vs. Lewiston Blue Devils

Edward Little has won three straight games at home, while Lewiston has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Red Eddies will welcome the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Edward Little had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Mt. Ararat on Friday. The Red Eddies blew past the Eagles 12-6. With that victory, the Red Eddies brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Lauren Bolduc and Emily Poulin did most of the damage at the plate: Bolduc went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Poulin went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those four hits gave Bolduc a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Michaud, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Edward Little kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lewiston). They walked away with a 10-6 win over Mt. Blue on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Blue Devils' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Edward Little's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Lewiston, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season.

Edward Little was able to grind out a solid win over Lewiston when the teams last played back in April, winning 6-3. Will the Red Eddies repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
