Football Game Preview: James Island Trojans vs. Sumter Gamecocks + How To Watch

The James Island Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Sumter Gamecocks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with James Island sitting on four straight wins and Sumter on eight.

James Island is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 48-0 victory over Wando. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won eight contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Connor Dantzler, who threw for 246 yards and three TDs. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Raphael Puiu did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards.

James Island didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Zamarius Gladden led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Sumter got the win against Westwood last Friday by a conclusive 52-27. The Gamecocks pushed the score to 45-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Redhawks cut but never quite recovered from.

James Island's record is now 10-1. As for Sumter, their record now sits at 9-1.

James Island lost to Sumter on the road by a decisive 34-17 margin in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
