Football Recap: Liberty Skates Past Walhalla with Ease

Liberty extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-1. They breezed past the Walhalla Razorbacks to the tune of 70-42. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won four games by 23 points or more so far this season.

Liberty was led to victory by Zane Smith and Tanner Elrod. Smith gained 165 total yards and three touchdowns, while Elrod gained 144 total yards and three touchdowns.

Liberty was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 455 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 314 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.

As for Walhalla, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. Even if they couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Walhalla's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Caleb Johnson, who threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes, and Nick Butler, who picked up 210 receiving yards and three scores. Ryker Dean got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Coincidentally, Liberty and Walhalla will both be playing Crescent the next time they take the field. The Red Devils will head out to face the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Razorbacks will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd.
