There wasn't a lot of overall movement in the power rankings this week, but with 14 teams changing position, that doesn't mean the week lacked for thrills. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Bartlett's 73 - 13 win over Chugiak last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Elijah Lear. Lear earned three touchdowns and 176 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Lear as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Colony and West, 4th and 7th in the power rankings, respectively. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Colony beat West 24 - 19. Even if it didn't bump Colony up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
No Stoppin 'Em
Service put forth a good scoring effort last week and even improved upon it this week, but that didn't prove quite enough. Victory was within reach, but it ultimately lost 49 - 45 to South. The team got a solid performance out of senior Ben Faulkner (he ran for 203 yards and also punched in three touchdowns); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. At 94 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Look Out Below
After a challenging last week, Lathrop now finds itself down three power ranking positions. No one has a better right to be disappointed since that was the biggest drop of the week. It came up short against Kodiak, falling 20 - 12. The defeat came about despite a quality game from senior Jaden Littell, who tossed the ball for 210 yards and one TD.
