Soccer Game Preview: Sweeny vs. Needville

The Sweeny Bulldogs will take on the Needville Bluejays at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sweeny is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season.

Needville will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Sweeny extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Bulldogs' defense stepped up to hand La Marque an 8-0 shutout. Give Sweeny's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

They hit La Marque with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Abbie Finch (2), Kailee Ponce (2), Eva Murphy (2), and Haven Arana (2).

Meanwhile, Needville didn't have quite enough to beat Columbia on Thursday and fell 4-3. Needville have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Needville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9-1. As for Sweeny, their win bumped their record up to 10-6-1.

Everything went Sweeny's way against Needville in their previous matchup back in January, as Sweeny made off with a 6-1 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
