Softball Preview: Olmsted Falls Bulldogs vs. Bay Rockets
The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bay Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bay took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Olmsted Falls, who comes in off a win.
Olmsted Falls gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Everything went their way against Cuyahoga Heights as Olmsted Falls made off with a 14-1 win.
MOLLY SHEEHAN was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. SHEEHAN was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, KATIE VORMELKER and SYDNEY BUSSER did most of the damage at the plate: VORMELKER went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a triple, and a run, while BUSSER scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was GRACE SHORTS, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Bay had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They suffered a tough 12-2 defeat at the hands of Lakewood. The loss means Bay is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.
Bay saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Mold, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Kathryn McFarland, who scored a run and stole three bases.
