Niwot skates past Fort Morgan with ease

Recap: Niwot Cougars vs. Fort Morgan Mustangs

The Niwot Cougars had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their contest on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 67-35 win over Fort Morgan. Niwot's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Niwot to victory were Diya Mehta and Chloe Mitchell. Mehta scored six points along with ten steals, while Mitchell scored 15 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Johnson, who scored four points along with five rebounds.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Taylor, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times she's played. Shaelynn Ramirez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds.

Niwot's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for Fort Morgan, their defeat was their 14th straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Niwot will take on Northridge at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fort Morgan, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Skyline at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Skyline focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Thursday.
