Football Recap: Lord Botetourt Starts Season with Victory Against Rye Cove

Lord Botetourt had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past the Rye Cove Eagles to the tune of 49-12. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cavaliers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Eagles are ranked 232nd).

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lord Botetourt will challenge Rustburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rye Cove, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Grundy at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
