Preview: Archbishop Bergan Knights vs. Scotus Shamrocks
Having just played yesterday, the Archbishop Bergan Knights will get right back to it and host the Scotus Shamrocks at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Archbishop Bergan will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Archbishop Bergan didn't have too much trouble with Lincoln Lutheran on the road as they won 40-26. Given Archbishop Bergan's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Lincoln Lutheran is ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop Bergan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Paige Frickenstein out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Frickenstein hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. Summer Bojanski was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Scotus can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Boone Central 44-17 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Scotus has posted since December 12, 2023.
Archbishop Bergan pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Scotus, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
