Basketball Recap: Cherokee Takes a Loss

Cherokee was the 75-70 winner over Murphy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cherokee Braves fell 72-61 to the Murphy Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Bradey Golden continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Murphy, going 8 of 13 on his way to 28 points. The dominant performance gave Golden a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Harger, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 boards.

Cherokee's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Murphy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherokee has already played their next game (against Robbinsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Murphy will face off against Hayesville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Murphy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 contests.
