The Twin Lakes Indians will take on the Munster Mustangs in a tournament on Friday.
Last Tuesday, Twin Lakes lost to Benton Central on the road by a 53-37 margin. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Bison are ranked 145th).
Despite the defeat, Twin Lakes saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addyson Hines posted 18 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Jasmine West, who earned eight points.
Meanwhile, Munster had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Everything went their way against the Red Wolves as they made off with a 58-35 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Munster's win came from a few key players Twin Lakes will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nina Garner, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Igboamaka Odeluga, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.
Munster was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.
Munster is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.9 points per game. As for Twin Lakes, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Twin Lakes has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Munster struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.2 boards.
