Basketball Game Preview: Hillcrest Panthers vs. South Oak Cliff Bears

The Hillcrest Panthers will square off against the South Oak Cliff Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a proper cat-fight when Hillcrest challenged Molina on Tuesday. Hillcrest really took it to Molina for the full four quarters, racking up a 50-16 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers who have now won three matches in a row.

Hillcrest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubrey Norton, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Norton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Clauriannys Berrios was another key player, putting up ten points along with eight boards and five assists.

Hillcrest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Oak Cliff). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Jefferson 57-16.

Hillcrest's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points per game. As for South Oak Cliff, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-17.

Everything came up roses for Hillcrest against South Oak Cliff when the teams last played two weeks ago, as the team secured a 57-26 victory. Does Hillcrest have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Oak Cliff turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
