Baseball Game Preview: Caldera vs. Bend Lava Bears

For the second straight game, Caldera will face off against Bend. Caldera will head out on the road to face off against Bend at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Caldera has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Caldera came up short against Bend and fell 11-7. Caldera has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Bend's part, Cash Hattenhauer made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Hattenhauer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Bend got a massive performance out of Fischer Barber, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. What's more, Barber posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Will Goodman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Bend always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caldera only posted an OBP of .273.

Bend's record is now 9-3. As for Caldera, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
