Baseball Game Preview: Springlake-Earth Wolverines vs. Nazareth Swifts

The Springlake-Earth Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Nazareth Swifts at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springlake-Earth will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Springlake-Earth made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Petersburg, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Buffaloes with a sharp 16-4 win on Friday. The Wolverines' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Nazareth won against Petersburg last Saturday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Swifts never let Crosbyton get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The Swifts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Zane Schulte made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Schulte was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Nazareth got a massive performance out of Cameron Pohlmeier, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Pohlmeier is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Fletcher Schacher, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Nazareth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Nazareth, bringing their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Springlake-Earth, their record now sits at 6-7-1.
