Recap: North Woods grizzlies vs. Cherry Tigers

If the North Woods grizzlies were feeling good off their 104-65 takedown of the Kelliher/Northome Mustangs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. North Woods was outmatched by Cherry at home and fell 99-57. North Woods has not had much luck with Cherry recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Cherry's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Asuma, who shot 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Asuma also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Carson Brown, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

North Woods' loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Cherry, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Woods will take on Marshall at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Cherry won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Nashwauk-Keewatin at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. The timing isn't great for Nashwauk-Keewatin: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Cherry has snatched up ten consecutive wins on the road.
